Identify the process being compared
Conventional hard chrome plating uses hexavalent chromium bath chemistry. Specialised functional trivalent processes are also commercially available. Availability does not establish widespread adoption, equal performance for every application, or the bath chemistry used at DVS.
Assess performance for the application
Compare the coating system, substrate, thickness, surface finish, wear duty and corrosion exposure. Similar appearance does not establish equivalent performance.
Separate environmental claims from evidence
Review the complete process, chemical hazards, emissions, waste and energy data. A change in one ingredient does not prove a lower lifecycle impact or automatic regulatory compliance.
Use trials and acceptance criteria
Agree how the proposed change will be tested and approved. Do not infer broad industry popularity, customer acceptance or DVS deployment from a supplier product announcement.
