Define the material and process
Nanocoating is a broad description, not one coating with a guaranteed set of properties. Ask for the composition, deposition route, thickness and substrate requirements.
Compare relevant test evidence
Compare adhesion, wear, corrosion, finish and service conditions using suitable tests and acceptance criteria. Results for one composition or laboratory test cannot be assigned to every nanocoating.
Distinguish research from production
A promising research result does not establish production availability, customer approval or DVS capability. Ask whether the system has been qualified for the proposed working component.
Prepare a useful enquiry
Share the base material, component drawing, working area, dimensions, coating requirement and inspection criteria. Suitability and the finishing route must be agreed for the actual component. Record trial results before changing a production coating specification.
